IndigyRaising Blog

IndigyRaising™ is CoMission’s Indigenous-centered model of resource development and community wealth-building. It weaves together the heart of philanthropy (the love of humanity) with the principles of Indigeneity — rooted in place, people, purpose, and prosperity.

At its core, IndigyRaising is about raising more than funds.
It’s about raising:

  • Visibility — for the stories, solutions, and leadership of Indigenous and rural communities.

  • Capacity — by building strong systems for financial management, fundraising, and governance.

  • Reciprocity — by ensuring giving and receiving are balanced through community benefit.

  • Resilience — by creating funding strategies that sustain both culture and economy.

Why It Matters

For too long, philanthropy has overlooked or misunderstood Indigenous giving. Many Native-led and rural organizations operate on deep cultural intelligence and community trust, yet they remain underfunded. Traditional fundraising models often prioritize urgency over relationship and overlook Indigenous measures of success, like healing, stewardship, and belonging.

IndigyRaising bridges that gap.
It translates between worlds — connecting Native values with modern fundraising tools. It honors the story behind the grant while equipping communities with the infrastructure to manage growth confidently and sustainably.
